Death of the sport.....

Its winter, things are dying, the trees, the air feels heavier, its cold, soon all to see will be white. The bikes are getting put in the shed for most people, now imagine what the reaction would be to get the toys out next spring only to find that there is nowhere to ride. Its hard to fathom, but there are people who are working towards this exact goal. What are we to do about this? Well, it starts with us! stay on the trail, keep the bike quiet, and educated new riders to do the same, be generous to others you meet, hikers, horseback riders, and the mountain bikers. The golden rule comes into play, treat them like you would want to be treated if you were in their shoes! pass slowly, wave, stay on the correct side of the trail!
Then politicaly, its quite simple, the blueribbion coalition, ama, and tread lightly, also feel free to write your reps, keep an eye on thumpertalk.com and mototips.com for action alers, together we can make a diffrence, and please do, before its too late for all of us.

  1. Great advice! I have noticed (especially over the past 5 yrs) a decline in the ethics of the local riders here in so cal. I mostly blame groups like Metal Mulishia and the likes. These are great groups, very talented and have done great things for the sport. But with that came a whole generation of riders that weren't taught by "experience" riders how to behave on the trail. :( Sorry to hear your riding season is over out there, but here is so cal, ours has just begun!!
